Today was incredibly positive and productive. All totalled, we had 18 people join us in the cold rain to work over the course of the day and got SO much accomplished! 2 trees were trimmed, 3 truckloads of branches hauled away, most of the pathways weeded, most of the garden beds raked and hoed, a large brush pile burned, some rocks picked, the entire greenhouse bleached to avoid mildew, some sod removed, 2 big tree stumps pulled out with the backhoe and taken away, a large area raked and levelled for the tabletop beds, paperwork signed and ready to mail for our newly formed official "Tahsis Community Garden Society", 10 mason bees picked up at the post office and delivered to their hibernation place (Debbie's fridge!), and one tour given to 4 friends of the garden who came out to see what we were up to.
A special thanks to Tena for keeping us going with hot coffee, chai, and the most delicious homemade turkey vegetable rice soup. With chocolate jellybean cupcakes from Catherine as well, we all felt nourished and strengthened.
Since my arms are a bit too tired to continue typing, I'll just sign off with some lovely photos of our cooperative, supportive, hard working gardeners. What a group!
